Edinburgh Fashion Week Takes To The Catwalk
Celebrating Edinburgh’s unique and diverse shopping experience, Edinburgh Fashion Week is the new must-attend event for anyone keen to discover the latest trends and be the first to see the city’s retailers’ latest spring/summer collections and exciting exclusives.
Edinburgh Fashion Week runs from March 7-15 and will transform The Mound into a sleek and stylish indoor fashion hub for the opening weekend. On March 7/8, local and visiting fashionistas are invited to a packed programme of free fashion shows, informal workshops and expert tutorials, all hosted by the Edinburgh’s favourite high street retailers, designer boutiques and independent stores.
Wearable catwalk inspirations
Whether a trend-setter or simply on the hunt for that one key piece to refresh your spring wardrobe, Edinburgh Fashion Week’s opening weekend programme brings wearable catwalk inspirations for all ages and both sexes. Shoppers can also browse in the fashion hub’s pop-up capsule stores or simply soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a tempting cocktail, cold beer or tasty bite.
Retailers across the city centre are embracing Edinburgh Fashion Week with a wide range of exclusive fashion discounts of at least 20%, quality free gifts-with-purchase and exclusive in-store events for shoppers visiting throughout the week.
And with Mother’s Day on March 15, this is the perfect opportunity to pick up a lovely gift for your mum, such as this gorgeous purse (£39) from participating boutique, Covet.
The purse is by Danish designer, Becksondergaard and as well as containing a free gift, as an extra special Mother’s Day treat, each purse bought at the pop-up store will be beautifully wrapped and every customer will receive a free Covet gift voucher for £20 and a complementary glass of fizz for their mum when she next visits the boutique.
To mark the occasion, Crowne Plaza Edinburgh – Royal Terrace will be offering a special 30% discount during Edinburgh Fashion Week, with rooms for just £99 per night, based on two sharing and including breakfast and a complementary glass of Prosecco on arrival. This special EFW package also includes reserved seating tickets at one of the opening weekend’s catwalk shows, access to the VIP lounge and a goodie bag.
‘Edinburgh is an incredibly stylish city’
“Edinburgh Fashion Week is about promoting the wonderful independent, designer and high street shops available on our doorstep,” said Andy Neal, Chief Executive, Essential Edinburgh. “Edinburgh is an incredibly stylish city and Edinburgh Fashion Week will offer something for all tastes, ages and budgets.”
Barry Blamire, Head of Branch at John Lewis Edinburgh said: “Edinburgh has such a terrific variety of retailers, from high street favourites to the independent boutiques on Thistle Street and the Grassmarket. Edinburgh Fashion Week is about showcasing all of them, encouraging shoppers to get out and explore their city centre.
“With its fashion shows, tutorials and pop-up shops, the launch weekend on The Mound will be packed with spring/summer inspirations and hopefully introduce residents to a few new stores they may not have visited before.”
‘Exactly what the city has been waiting for’
Edinburgh-based Personal Shopper and Fashion Blogger Laura Russell will be leading some fashion tutorial sessions at The Mound launch. ““Edinburgh Fashion Week is exactly what the city has been waiting for,” said Laura.
“I know from my experience as a personal stylist that people are creatures of habit who tend to visit the same shops every time. The launch event will be the ideal opportunity to get people out of their comfort zone, challenge their perceptions and surprise them with exciting fashion finds and refreshing new season looks.”
